    Co-founder and Chair of the Natural Computing Research Group, SIGNAC within the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI).

    Co-organizer of the International Workshop on Natural Computing (IWNC), conducted annually from 2006 to 2023, providing an international forum on natural computation and informatics-based approaches to complex systems. Selected proceedings were published by Springer.

    Served as a grant reviewer for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) on two occasions.

    Invited participant at the Japan–U.S. Frontiers of Science Symposium (Hayama, Japan).

    Session Chair at the Exploratory Forum, National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS), Japan, leading discussions on natural computation and informatics-based approaches to understanding complex systems.

    Public Engagement & Outreach

    Co-developer and lecturer of the Open University of Japan radio course

    “Computation and Nature” (2024–2028), exploring natural computation and informatics-based perspectives on complex systems.

    Invited academic presentation for the national university outreach platform “Yume Navi (Dream navigator)”, introducing tactile informatics and structured sensory systems.

    Confirmed speaker at the Nagoya University Homecoming Day 2026 Science Café, presenting research on the statistical and structural analysis of the Designated Hitter (DH) rule in professional baseball.

    Awards & Recognition

    Recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award, Health 2.0 Conference (Dubai, 2024), in recognition of contributions to structured tactile system design and its societal implementation.

    Selected for Hall of Fame 2024 by Passion Vista magazine.
